System bet
A system bet splits several selections into every combination of a given size, each placed as a separate bet. A 2/3 system turns three selections into three doubles: you can still get a return if one selection loses, at the cost of a larger total stake.
A system bet is a way of placing several accumulators at once. You pick n selections and a combination size k: the « k/n » system plays every combination of k selections out of n, each with the same unit stake. With 3 selections, a 2/3 system gives 3 doubles (AB, AC, BC); with 4 selections, a 2/4 system gives 6.
Some systems mix several sizes. A « Trixie » covers 3 selections with 4 bets: the 3 doubles and the treble. A « Yankee » covers 4 selections with 11 bets (6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 fourfold). The total stake is therefore the unit stake times the number of combinations: that is the point people most often overlook.
The appeal is that it tolerates a miss: in a 2/3, if one selection loses, one double still wins. But that cushion comes at a price. You stake more in total, the surviving double doesn’t always cover the outlay, and each combination still carries the compounded margin of an accumulator.
A system doesn't change the probabilities of the matches: it spreads the risk across several slips. Before placing one, it is worth working out the total stake and the return for each number of winning selections, and not committing more than you can afford to lose.
Example
Selections A (2.00), B (1.80), C (2.50), 2/3 system at £10 per double: total stake £30. Doubles: AB = 3.60, AC = 5.00, BC = 4.50. All win: 36 + 50 + 45 = £131. C loses: only AB pays £36, i.e. £6 net profit. As a Trixie (3 doubles + the ABC treble at 9.00), total stake £40: all win = £221; C loses = £36, i.e. a £4 loss.
Betting involves risks: losing money, debt, addiction. Betting is for adults only. Never stake more than you can afford to lose. Elofoot is a data analysis tool: it takes no bets and no prediction is guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a 2/3 system bet?
- It is a bet covering every combination of 2 selections out of 3, i.e. 3 doubles. You need at least 2 winning selections to get a return.
- How much does a system bet cost?
- The unit stake times the number of combinations. A 2/3 at £10 costs £30; a Trixie at £10 costs £40.
- What's the difference between a system bet and an accumulator?
- An accumulator is a single slip lost at the first miss. A system spreads the stake across several combinations, so it can survive a miss, but it costs more in total.
