Correct score

The correct score is the prediction of a match's precise scoreline (e.g. 2-1). It's the hardest outcome to forecast in football: dozens of scores are possible, each unlikely. So you aim for the MOST likely score, never a certainty.

To estimate a correct score, you model a goal distribution for each team (from xG, form and context), then derive the most likely score and a few plausible alternatives. Even the best model never « guarantees » a score.

That's why a serious prediction always pairs the score with a scenario and probabilities: the number alone doesn't tell the whole story.

Example

A prediction might give « most likely score: 2-1 », with 1-1 and 2-0 as alternatives.
